EU President on Obama's Economic "Plan"

All of these steps, their combination and their permanency, is a way to hell.
- EU President Mirek Topolanek, former Czech prime minister, condemning the Obama economic "recovery" plan.

Note: Considering the prolonged suffering of Czechoslovakia under Nazi and Soviet regimes, I'd say Topolanek knows what he's talking about.

But the The New York Times twisted into a knot to put a positive spin on Toplanek's statement, going so far as to quote a Czech translator who said, "while for many Americans hell is truly a horrifying concept, Czechs don’t make such a big deal out of it."

Talk about gallows humor.

  1. Huh... Topolanek, Putin and the Chinese have all warned about socialism and these sort of recovery plans. But no one seems to care. I guess we Americans are just too smart to listen to others when they disagree with our left.

    Loved the NYT link...

  2. Even better may be the fact that Mirek Topolanek said he was inspired by AC/DC's "Highway to Hell."
