Climate Change: Michael Mann Global Warming Lecture Snowed Out

In the Mann-Caused Global Warming Department, "IRONY ABOUNDS." Thanks to Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit:
A reader emails: “Today, Michael Mann was scheduled to give a colloquium on climate change at the University of Pennsylvania, where I am a graduate student. As you may know, Philadelphia has been hit by multiple snowstorms in the past week. Today, for what I am told is the first time since the mid-1990s, the university suspended normal operations due to snow, and his colloquium on climate change has been postponed.”
The screen shot below is from the Web site of the University of Pennsylvania. "It's hard to find anything in the history books of these types of storms back-to-back," said National Weather Service meteorologist Stephen Konarik."

"Essential personnel" of course, means the snow-removal crew.

Heh, heh, heh.

Maybe the Gore Effect is contagious.

Or maybe Somebody Up There has a sense of humor.

  2. But Bill Nye the Science Guy (he has a BS in mech. engineering) was on MSNBC telling us all that weather doesn't equal climate. Also that disagreeing with science is "unpatriotic"-- even though the scientific process is built around skepticism... His quote: "To deny what scientists or scientific evidence is showing, is inappropriate. And as I said earlier, to me, when I get wound up, it's unpatriotic."

Pundit & Pundette (http://www.punditandpundette.com/2010/02/if-science-guy-says-it-it-must-be-true.html) have the an amusing post about it.

BTW glad to hear your loved one is doing better. :)

  3. I agree with Bill Nye that it's important and appropriate to pay attention to scientific evidence, but the results of sloppy research can hardly be considered scientific evidence.

The problem is that the scientific method and even moderately high research standards don't admit most of the "evidence" the warmers are peddling.

  4. Bill Nye is the rear end of a burro (metaphorically) and is not in any sense of the word a scientist.

Scientific evidence is only "evidence" if it can't be sunk as a part of a peer review. When there is no real peer review and scrutiny, due to threats and exclusion as Climategate demonstrated (among the many significant problems it highlighted), then there is no actual scientific process.

And don't even get me started about him throwing around the word "unpatriotic."

Whoa. The word verification for this comment was "death." Uh oh.
