Notice Any Familiar Names in ACORN's List of Friends?

Bertha Lewis, Chief Organizer of ACORN and Co-Chair of the Working Families Party (a political party in New York, Connecticut, South Carolina, and Oregon) has lots of friends, and she doesn't mind sending them a "special shout-out" every now and then for help defending ACORN from "scurrilous right-wing attacks and smears":

Among Bertha's favorite people:
  • People for the American Way
  • AFL (American Federation of Labor)
  • SEIU (Service Employees International Union)
  • AFT (American Federation of Teachers)
  • NEA (National Education Association)
  • Steelworkers
  • CWA (Communications Workers of America)
  • Leadership Conference on Civil Rights
  • Julian Bond, Chairman of the NAACP
  • Maxine Waters (D-CA) (House Judiciary Committee)
  • John Conyers (D-MI) (House Judiciary Chairman)
  • Jerry Nadler (D-NY) (House Judiciary Committee)
  • everyone on nets roots
  • MoveOn.org
  • Firedoglake
  • AMERICAblog
  • Black Agenda Report
  • Open Left
And, of course, that community organizer listed on the Working Families Party line:
  • Barack Obama.
By the way, the AP has reported that the IRS finally has taken the hint and has divested ACORN of its status as a "volunteer tax assistance program." That means ACORN won't be offering "free tax advice" this spring to millions of low and moderate income-tax filers this spring, at least not under IRS auspices.
